I think it ought to be a lesson to the nation that the meta-discussion consuming the blogoshpere is "how should Biden conduct the debate given his opponent is utterly ill-equipped to be a national chief executive?"
The more everyone remarks on what a curve-ball the "maverick" has thrown here -- the more extreme the perception that the selection of Palin was daring, surprising, or a "game changer" -- the better the argument is made that she is an unfit candidate.
McCain's campaign has to skate the thin line here between brilliance and foolishness, and since the convention "bump" it seems to have skidded past foolishness into uncharted territory.
None of which helps Biden's immediate problem. He's like a big league pitcher up against a Little Leaguer. Should he underarm? Slow pitch? As fascinating as it is, Biden's conundrum shouldn't be allowed to overshadow the fact that the Little Leaguer doesn't belong at the plate in the first place.
Now, lest anyone be tempted to accuse me of sexism -- and believe me, I search my heart deeply on this question -- here are links to the bios of four young male sitting Republican governors. Every one of them, even on the surface, has credentials well above those of Sarah Palin: Ivy League, law degrees, 4-8 years of statehouse experience, Washington experience, armed forces command experience, executive CEO experience..., etc. One is even a pilot and several are hunters.

McCain is the sexist, for so blatantly using a woman for her gender.
